What you will do
Under the general direction of the Director, Business Solutions and Support, you lead a team of ten to twelve business support analysts who are responsible for providing 24/7 business support to the Payment and Settlement Operations (PSO) Division of the Banking and Payments Department (BAP). The team provides support for time- and non-time-critical operations and carries out its functions from various sites (Head Office, Ottawa Support Centre, Calgary Operational Site, and remotely).

You are accountable for evolving , planning, overseeing, and delivering the business support services for the systems and applications used by PSO. You act as a support liaison between the business (PSO) and the Information Technology Services Department and play an important role in ensuring continuity of operations for PSO. You ensure that changes to the systems (and infrastructure) are thoroughly tested before implementation and that critical incidents are well managed for a prompt return to operations. As a leader, you provide managerial direction and contribute to BAP leadership activities by demonstrating a strategic outlook along with inspirational and intellectual leadership. 

You develop and maintain effective and collaborative business relationships, both internally and externally, by demonstrating subject-matter expertise to effectively deliver both strategic and core initiatives.

You create a healthy work environment for the team, build employees’ capabilities, support their professional development, and enable them to optimize their contributions. 

You oversee the creation and evolution of a training program for future business support analysts. 

What you need to succeed

• ability to encourage, guide, monitor, manage, and support the performance and development of team members by providing coaching and feedback as well as arranging learning opportunities based on expectations and agreed-upon commitments toward achieving individual and organizational goals;
• strong interpersonal skills; ability to share expertise, provide constructive feedback, obtain co-operation from others, and contribute ideas to others to optimize performance and to achieve common goals;
• solid understanding of IT network, server infrastructures, testing methodologies, and end-user systems;
• ability to manage time-sensitive situations with calm, sound judgment and clear communications, easily adapting to changing priorities;
• sound analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions when giving advice or making recommendations; and
• dedication to operational excellence and continuous improvements while collecting, analyzing and reporting on metrics.

Nice-to-have

• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification 
• Experience with the system development life cycle, including the Agile approach
• Knowledge of Canada’s financial systems
• Experience in operational areas of banking and/or finance
• Knowledge of server, desktop and networking technologies and their relationships with business systems
• Knowledge of the Bank’s information technology and security standards

Your education and experience
This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, finance or computer science and a minimum of five years of related work experience with increasing levels of management responsibilities, including a minimum of three years of work experience managing a team; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Language requirement: English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.

• Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $101,325 to $126,660 (job grade 18)
• Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay. The first tier of performance pay is for successfully meeting expectation, at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers performance pay for those who exceed expectations (15% of your base salary).. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
