How will you contribute?

The Manager, Strategic Communications is responsible for developing and directing the implementation of comprehensive outreach and client/stakeholder engagement plans for the Senate of Canada and its committees. With an understanding of Senate activities, the incumbent will be responsible for managing writing services for various teams of the directorate, as well as for overseeing activities that promote senators work to different audiences and on various platforms.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership to support and manage the different facets of the Senate’s internal communications activities, including messaging and communications products that support the Senate’s commitments in relation to Accessible Canada Act , and initiatives under the Long-Term Vision and Plan (LTVP) program. 

The incumbent is also responsible for overseeing research and recommending outreach and communications activities that best raise the visibility of the Senate with the Canadian public, as well as with the media. The incumbent has responsibility for ensuring products and messaging are tailored to targeted audience and meet clients’ needs while using diverse formats and platforms. 

The Manager, Strategic Communications is one of five (5) positions reporting to the Director General, Communications, Broadcasting and Publications. This position will have 14 direct reports, including writers, editors, communications advisors and officers, a Senate accessibility officer, and the Senate Event Coordinators. 

 

Open to

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate full-time position in the Communications, Broadcasting and Publications directorate.
