Position – Veterinarian (restricted license)
Neighbourhood Pet Clinic in London, ON is seeking an experienced Veterinarian with a restricted license to join our animal healthcare team.
Job Responsibilities and Duties include: - In cooperation with the Veterinarian Technician, obtain a complete history of the animal’s health,
- Examine animals, check their health status, and make suggestions for preventative health care,
- Perform diagnostic procedures to assist in making accurate diagnosis and providing advice for care (e.g. urinalysis, blood smear, etc.),
- Prescribe appropriate medication with appropriate dosing,
- Maintain security of controlled drugs and ensure logs are completed consistently,
- Update patient files and ensure accurate, up to date information has been recorded,
- Promote health of patients by advising clients about sanitation measures, feeding, and general care,
- Ensure that clients are well-informed about their pet’s health and answer questions related to proper care,
- Accurately estimate procedures and provide alternative options depending on client constraints,
- Perform surgeries and dental procedures on patients,
- Utilize surgical best practices and lead the team during surgeries,
- Provide timely status reports to clients to communicate test results and provide updates on patients who are hospitalized for surgery and/or monitoring,
- Offer suggestions on how to improve services in terms of medicine as well as visitor experience,
- Provide assistance and expertise to clients to ensure comfort and convenience during their experience at the clinic.
Job Skills Required: - Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine (DVM) from an accredited post-secondary institution,
- NAVLE (restricted license) or valid license in good standing with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario,
- Passion for working with animals and knowledge of animal behaviour,
- At least 1 year of knowledge and experience using medical technologies such as digital radiographs,
- Experience providing compassion and empathy while providing medical care,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Proficiency in the English language is required,
- Excellent teamwork abilities,
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and judgment,
- Ability to multi-task and complete work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment: - Fast-paced position in a professional environment
- Flexibility to go between locations is highly valued
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Standing, crouching, stooping, or kneeling for long periods of time
Position is full time, consisting of approximately 38-44 hours per week, at an annual salary of $84,000 - $115,000 (up to $115,000 if all CPEs are completed), exclusive of benefits and bonuses after 90-days of employment. Some evenings and Saturdays given a regular rotating schedule.
