(Replacement Temporary Full-Time)

The West Vancouver Parks Department has an opening for a Replacement Temporary Full-Time Foreperson. Reporting to the Parks Coordinators, the Foreperson will be a working leader performing the following duties:
- Planning, scheduling, supervising, training and assisting our Park Ranger Team;
- Engaging in parks maintenance, including arboriculture, vegetation management, trail works and other duties as required;
- Assisting in the resolution of various issues;
- Reviewing the requirements for personnel, equipment, materials, and tools, as well as allocating equipment as necessary;
- Determining methods for overcoming obstacles encountered in the course of daily work routines;
- Inspecting and participating in work to ensure that project specifications, quality, safety regulations, and standards are adhered to;
- Preparing and maintaining work records, time sheets, and reports of work activities as required;
- Ensuring the safety of workers and ensuring safety requirements and procedures are met;
- Enforcing and ensuring that all safety rules, regulations, and processes are being followed;
- Conducting employee evaluations as required.
The successful candidate has: graduated from secondary school, three years of related or general Parks experience; excellent communication with strong leadership skills; ability to deal effectively and courteously with staff and establish and maintain good relations with the public and contractors; ability to determine and develop project activities and propose appropriate work methods; and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia.
The preferred candidate will possess additional education/certification in supervision/leadership, arboriculture, forestry, bylaw and administration or another related discipline. Additionally, previous experience in a Park Ranger or similar position and direct supervisory experience in a union environment will be considered an asset.
The successful candidate is required to supply a Police Information Check and a copy of their credentials

Hours of Work:
40 hours per week (Saturday and Sunday as part of weekly schedule, and availability for evening shift rotation)
Starting Rate of Pay:
$40.11 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
