Job description
Our client, a leading Tier 1 manufacturing supplier is looking for a Material Planner to join their team as they launch a new facility in Windsor.
NOTE:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analysis of inventory levels, production speed, and product demand to determine the amount of finished product that will be produced
- Determine the best metrics to use to provide the most accurate representation of the forecast
- Work with other departments to determine optimal inventory levels
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
- Creating and maintaining a detailed and accurate inventory data collection and reporting system via electronic spreadsheets and paper systems by reviewing Material Requisitions to determine which lots of materials should be used to conform to JIT materials flows
- Exhibit teamwork skills and actively participate in team activities intended to improve operational processes
- Track critical shipments after normal business hours when necessary
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills and apply them to resolve issues and develop corrective actions to prevent problem reoccurrence
- Generating a process to ensure the accuracy of published inventory reports and spreadsheets
- Arranging inventory items to count, verify and organize materials
- Analyzing and reporting defined minimum Raw Material stock levels
- Establishes lead-time and minimum order quantities in the manufacturing software for on-time ordering and delivery of products to meet the planned production schedule
- Audits and ensures inventory information is accurate continuingly
- Balances inventory turns goals and transportation costs to ensure the lowest acquisition costs of established products
- Contact suppliers when the material is rejected and ensure quality spills are contained and replacement material provided to ensure the production schedule is maintained
- Maintain supplier histories to assist in the Supplier Rating process
- Assist Purchasing in identifying and implementing changes with suppliers for improvements to order quantities, methods, etc. to improve communication, material flow, and reduce costs
- Ensure policies and procedures are in accordance with World Class Manufacturing standards with respect to quality of work, maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, and protection of the environment
- Consistent use of the MRP system to create releases for suppliers and track material
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or University degree preferred or equivalent work experience and training
- Minimum two (2) years work experience preferred
- Demonstrated communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of purchasing and production principles and systems
- Demonstrated computer skills for the analysis and reporting of assigned responsibilities and goal
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge and ability to utilize MRP system
- Knowledge of Stellantis receiving system is an asset
