Job description
The Keho Lake Recreational Society board of directors are seeking an individual to join our team as our pro shop manager. There is a 9 hole golf course with a clubhouse consisting of a pro shop and restaurant open to guests and golfers during our open season from March until October. There is also a campground consisting of 117 seasonal campers, 10 rental overnight campsites, and 2 group camping areas. As pro shop manager, you would be responsible for the oversight of operations pertaining to the golf course and campground.
Pro Shop Manager Requirements: 3-5 years in business management or related field, and supervisory experience. 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience within the golf industry. Knowledge of basic accounting procedures related to daily cash flow operations. Membership with the PGA of Alberta considered an asset. Working knowledge of computers, and the ability to use golfing and point of sales software. Equivalencies will be considered, and training provided for qualified candidates.
Duties of the Pro Shop Manager include, but are not limited to: Book and arrange tee times for members and guests; and to collect fees as required. Collect fees in relation to annual golf and society memberships, and annual campground fees. Advertising and promoting the golf course and campground. Organization and operation of weekly golf leagues outside booked tournaments, and club hosted tournaments. Organization and operation of golf cart rentals, on grounds storage for golf carts and campers, and to collect any fees related to rentals and storage. Manage and oversee the pro shop retail operations for all inventory through purchasing, receiving, promotions, and sales to golfers and guests. Have an interest in hosting golf programs or lessons for golfers. Work, as a team member, with the Kitchen Manager, and the Course Superintendent daily. Operate the pro shop within an annual budget established by the board of directors. Scheduling of pro shop staff to ensure necessary coverage. Daily cleaning, and fueling of golf carts, and organizing necessary repairs with the Grounds Crew Daily organizing, stocking and cleaning of the pro shop.
Pro Shop Manager Skills & Assets: Have a proven track record of establishing positive relationships with team members, golfers, campers, and guests. Ability to work independently, and to lead a team of pro shop staff. Having effective verbal and written communications with the staff, board of directors, golfers, and guests. Have a passion for the sport of golf, and the desire to promote the sport within the local community.
Employment Information: This is a contracted employment with a yearly term running from March 15th until October 30th. (weather permitting) Wages are based on a yearly salary, to be negotiated, between the pro shop manager and the board of directors.
