The role of the Finance Officer will support the Director of Finance and assist with the financial operations for the organization. Looking for someone who wants to be part of a not-for-profit, we are looking for a strong Accountant who can take responsibility for preparing financial statements and reports for month end, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and the accruals. You will bring your strong ERP knowledge, preferably in Great Plains, and help with the journal entries, depreciation schedules and investment interest calculations. You will ideally have some experience working with payroll to help with over time calculations, pay increases, bonuses, and statutory deductions. The accountant will have an eye towards process improvements and building efficiencies through technology. You will know how to modernize the accounting function or be technology proficient with reporting tools, ERPs and databases to support change. This opportunity is for someone who likes to be part of a smaller accounting team and is open to helping out in both the financial side and the IT side. This position is critical to the finance team, as it will support the client services. You will be responsible for preparing invoices for Ministers and Directors, and as a result, a high level of accuracy and discretion is expected.
The Ideal Candidate will bring a minimum of 4 years working within a progressive Accounting role. With a University / College diploma in accounting, and ideally pursuit of the CPA designation, we are looking for someone who handle complex reconciliations, and knows their way in and out of the General Ledger. You will have experience working through the financial statement preparation through to month end close, and understand how to build efficiencies with the technology tools available. We are looking for a self-motivated professional, who can demonstrate a high attention to detail, and can meet tight deadlines. You will be a problem solver, who knows how to be resourceful and prioritize work. Experience working in a non-profit organization would be an asset but not required.
