Job description

The EHS Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing and maintaining EHS programs
to effectively control environmental, health, safety and security risks, while ensuring compliance with local
and provincial and federal regulatory agencies. The position will also be responsible for tracking
sustainability data and initiatives. The EHS Specialist will provide oversight and assistance to the site
management team and operation and maintenance personnel ranging from training, hazard assessment
and correction, accident investigations, inspections, analytics and incident prevention programs.

Working for a major American manufacturing company supplying industrial adhesives worldwide.

Responsibilities
● Ensure full implementation and visibility of the company’s injury and illness and incident prevention
program to help identify and mitigate hazards.
● Investigate serious incidents, accidents and injuries and notify management of pertinent details.
● Acts as company representative in dealing with government agencies on safety and health matters
affecting the company.

● Ensure compliance with site permits and written site environmental plans.
● Manage and coordinate site’s Emergency Response Plan with site personnel as well as outside
agencies such as local fire, EMS and police departments.
● Coordinate waste management activities within the site and treat storage and disposal facilities and
identify waste minimization opportunities for the site.
● Develop and implement EHS training programs based on site procedures, practices, regulatory
requirements, and incident prevention.
● Ensure training calendar is updated and training is tracked for each individual at the site based on
their specific job requirements.
● Assist with the development of employee safety recognition programs.
● Help drive housekeeping and organization through 5S program.

Qualifications
● Associates degree in environmental, health and safety or related field is preferred
● Minimum of 3-5 years experience in manufacturing and EHS
● Knowledge of environmental, safety and transportation regulations is a plus
● Proficiency with Excel, Word, SharePoint
● Experience with a Safety Management or Learning Systems is a plus.
● Strong organization and analytical skills to organize, analyze, and disseminate EHS information.
● Excellent verbal, written and persuasive skills to interact with line employees and management.
● Strong written and oral communication skills required.
● Work well independently and as part of a team, remotely or present, as needed.
