Job description

The Project Manager is responsible to manage and supervise projects and project teams through the entire project life cycle. They will facilitate and manage both major and minor capital projects and complex operational building infrastructure projects within Covenant Health ran facilities. They are also accountable for the development of annual objectives for their functional or direct reports as well as providing coaching, mentoring, and development. The Project Managers specific duties will include, but are not limited to; the management of stakeholder communications and engagement, risk management, project communication plans, project charters & schedules, project procurement and cash flow forecasts and performance. In addition, this position will oversee and manage the contract administration, building and operational commissioning, equipment installation and approval of the project expenditures. The Project Manager makes timely and critical project decisions provides leadership and expertise and is directly accountable to ensure that the projects are delivered achieving the project goals of integration, communication, scope, budget, schedule, quality, risk mitigation, stakeholder management and other performance standards to the client’s and the organization’s satisfaction and within a safe working environment. Due to the critical nature of the work, advanced and proven skills, both verbal and written is required. This position is non-unionized.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Project Management (Building Construction) or a Technology Diploma in Architecture, Building or Engineering and/or Journeyman Construction Trade Certificate. A member in good standing with the AAA, APEGGA, ASET or PMP designation associated in the Building Infrastructure Industry. 5-7 years of related commercial/institutional construction project management experience. Equivalencies may be considered. Excellent project management related software, desktop software, contract law, insurance requirements, financial management, and OH&S/WHS/WCB knowledge. Experience in project management methodology, tools and techniques required. Travel is required and may include the use of a personal vehicle. Demonstrated leadership, general management skills and knowledge of health care delivery required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge in computer assisted Project Management scheduling, theories, principles, practices, and processes. Demonstrate professional integrity and utilize a variety of communication techniques and strategies to communicate change and facilitate the ongoing support of organizational goals. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Advanced skills in written and verbal communication. Work may involve influencing others to adopt a different point of view during complex or stressful negotiations. Knowledge and demonstrated application of systems thinking, change management and leadership strategies. Comfortable working with a diverse team. Superior proficiency with computer skills in Microsoft Office suite, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; Project and Visio.

Preferred Qualifications:

8-10 years in a construction project management role in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Design background, building code, construction standards, construction procurement, inspection and testing requirements, understanding of hospital building systems, telecommunication systems, and clinical and office equipment. Accounting and financial reporting systems and process knowledge would be an asset.
