What you’ll do:
- Supervise all accounting and internal financial reporting functions including preparation of timely and accurate monthly financial results and reports, including monthly analysis of variances to Plan, Forecast and Prior Year.
- Full ownership of the GL and trial balance
- Balance sheet reconciliations completed monthly and reviewed quarterly with senior finance leaders.
- Manage and mentor accounting personnel of approximately 5.
- Ensure that the accounting function is carried out in compliance with the Company’s policies and accepted accounting practices.
- Ensure financial controls are efficient and effective and comply with NI 52-109. Support the internal control audit conducted by our external auditors. This will include identifying, documenting, and testing the significant processes and internal controls related to accounting.
- In analyzing operating results, highlight areas for improvement and make recommendations to senior management.
- Manage period end close process.
- Play a leading role in finance system troubleshooting, enhancements, and projects (i.e. SAP upgrade).
- Lead the quarterly reviews and year-end financial audit and work with external auditors.
- Requires some extended hours during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- CPA Professional designation
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including managing teams
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Ability to adapt to change and re-engineer processes.
- Very strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey key elements in a concise and positive manner.
- Ability to effectively lead, manage and reprioritize multiple projects and competing priorities, while effectively operating in a fast-paced and growing organization
- Detail-oriented
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of financial systems and software (SAP an asset)
