What you will do-
The Trade Compliance Analyst is responsible for executing processes that allow for the efficient and economical movement of goods across international borders in accordance with organization policies and in compliance with relevant local, country, and international customs laws and processes. You will support Stryker’s customs brokers in clearance of goods, inspections, requests for information and audits. You will ensure an ongoing assessment of tools and processes and the submission of recommendations to the Logistics and Trade Compliance leadership for improvements to maximize efficiencies and mitigate risk of non-compliance. You will serve as a leading and contributing member of the logistics team while championing Stryker’s Mission and Values. This is a hybrid role. We are seeking a candidate in Hamilton or surrounding area. The employee is expected to be physically present at the Stryker location on a weekly basis but has the flexibility to work from home.
Collaborate with the wider Canadian Business Operations group on Trade compliance and logistics analytics related initiatives as and when required
Ensure the Logistics and Canadian Business Operations team has a comprehensive understanding of all Trade Compliance policies and procedures and provides real-time support as required as issues/concerns arise
Analyze import and export data to determine product eligibility for duty optimization
Review duties paid (monthly) to ensure the correct outlay of duties and taxes on all imports
Conduct quarterly internal compliance audits and assessments to identify discrepancies on import and export declarations
Own post-entry corrections and filing of drawbacks and individual B2 and blanket B2 adjustments
Support audits from CBSA, internal Trade audits by acting as subject matter expert in import and export compliance and regulations
Maintain Customs Broker KPIs to better manage and report on performance of the business
What you need-
University degree highly preferred; or in lieu of a degree, 6 years of equivalent experience in the international trade area will be considered, in addition to the requirement below
2 years’ experience in international trade area -required
Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) required, US CCS, CTCS “preferred”
CITT designation “preferred”
Internal applicants with an equivalent combination of education, experience and performance over time at Stryker will be considered
Knowledge of the technical and regulatory aspects of Global Trade Data Attributes to support conducting accurate assessments and to arrive at proper determinations ”preferred”
Understanding of reasonable care, as defined by the customs regulations and best practices necessary to meet the standard “preferred”
Strong working knowledge of HS Classification, Valuation methods, Country of Origin, Trade Agreements CUSMA etc.) is a requirement “preferred”
Extremely service-oriented, resourceful, and self-motivated, demonstrates strong communication and presentation skills “preferred”
Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PowerBI “preferred”
