Job description

The Opportunity: As the Manager of Financial Reporting and Analysis at the Agri-Farms division of Maple Leaf Foods (MLF), you will play a key role in planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of our financial results. You will work closely with our production team to develop budgets, processes, and analytics to drive meaningful change and performance in the organization. Additionally, you will work in conjunction with peers across the Maple Leaf Foods organization to fulfill Audit, Tax and Compliance requirements for Maple Leaf Agri-Farms. This variety of experiences and exposure will uniquely position you to pursue a meaningful long-term career path within the Finance team.

  • Leading the budgeting process; coordinating the finance team, operations managers, and corporate peers to ensure timely and accurate completion of the annual budget
  • Act as liaison with internal and external auditors, coordinating reviews and managing deliverables
  • Work in conjunction with the corporate tax team to complete annual tax packs
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of all financial reporting and ensure management is aware of relevant trends and issues
  • Manage the monthly timelines for the completion of the financial close process; working cross-functionally with other teams within Maple Leaf including Tax, Treasury, Reporting and the Consolidations
  • Lead the preparation and review month end statements, including the completion of expense reporting and analytics for our internal business partners
  • Prepare and review month end financial analysis reporting, including the development of commentary and presentation for SLT
  • Prepare monthly forecasting model, including developing forecasting models and analytics to provide accurate forward forecasting
  • Oversee quarterly internal compliance and controls testing to ensure accuracy of information in the general ledger
  • Manage the capital assets process, including financial calculations for capital requests and ensuring the compliance with our capital policies
  • Providing support for ad hoc analytics and special projects to enable SLT decision-making
  • Developing, motivating, and managing 1 direct report
What You’ll Bring:
  • CPA Designation
  • 5+ years of progressive finance experience with focus on FP&A, preferably in an agricultural environment
  • Advanced budgeting, financial modeling, and analytics capabilities
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Mindset of continuous improvement
  • Inclusive and collaborative approach
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced knowledge of MS Excel
Desirable skills, knowledge, and attributes:
  • Experience in Hog Production
  • Hands-on experience with SAP
  • Experience with public company reporting is an asset
