Job description
The Maintenance Helper is responsible for the overall facility maintenance and upkeep of the building and equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Willingness and ability to represent and work within the mission, vision & values of The SA Ridge Meadows Ministries
- Use a client-centered approach by consistently demonstrating compassion, respect and empathy in the administration of policies and procedures
- Support, where and when possible, the efforts of all residents, clients and co-workers
- Plans & undertakes minor renovation projects (dry walling, electrical repairs, plumbing repairs, & painting)
- Conducts moderate troubleshooting of building systems and calls in other professionals when required
- Monitoring quality of workmanship of outside contractors
- Ensures the grounds are in good general appearance
- Ensures janitorial & bathroom supplies are ordered, received, stored, & redistributed to appropriate areas
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- successful obtainment of clearance through the Criminal Records Review Program
- CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training an asset
- Preference to those who have prior related experience in custodial, general repairs, building systems, fire safety and electrical systems experience
- A current valid BC driver’s license and clean driving record
Experience:
- Computer and word processing ability
- Preference to those who have completed High School and have related experience

- Team oriented and able to take initiative
- Ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment and cope with stressful situations

- Strong decision making skills
- Agreeable to a flexible, non-routine schedule.
HOURS:
- Shift Work, flexibility in hours is expected, work includes evenings/overnights/days/weekends/holidays
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- A clean drivers abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
