About Us
The purpose of the “Improvement and Innovations Coordinator” (co-op student) is to support assessment, scoping, planning and implementation of improvement initiatives across Aecon Nuclear, in the interest of continuous improvement an achievement of operational excellence.
What is the Opportunity?
- Overall: assist with planning and implementation of improvement initiatives across the nuclear sector
- Develop or support/coordinate development of detailed planning components for the above-mentioned initiatives/changes, including schedules, resource plans, cost estimates, technical documents, procedures, training plans, etc
- Directly develop or assist with development of new or improved processes, procedures and tools as part of improvement initiatives
- Develop or assist with development of justification documents (cost-benefit analyses, choose-by advantage analyses, options engineering, presentations) to support the process of decision making and planning for improvement initiatives
- Coordinate/communicate across several key functions, departments, job locations and people for the purpose of scoping, planning and implementing improvement initiatives
- Engage in field construction activities to monitor ongoing/current state; identify areas of improvement and gather data to drive improvement initiatives
- Conduct research on innovative solutions to solve problems / support improvements
- Gather data/metrics and create reports and scorecards where required
- Serve as a point of contact, positive advocate and champion for continuous improvement within Aecon Nuclear
- Conduct various activities as assigned by the Continuous Improvement & Performance Assurance leadership team
What You Bring to the Table:
- 3rd or 4th year post-secondary education in engineering or business
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Previous experience using Electronic Document Management Systems is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills are required
- Ability to be self-motivated and work effectively with minimal direction
- Effective organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure work environment
- Ability to work effectively within a team
Initiatives May Include:
- New/innovative tools and equipment for field/construction and fabrication work
- Optimized processes to support construction, fabrication and peripheral operations
- New or improved procedures and supporting technical approaches to work execution
- Benchmarking and market research to review & adopt best practices within the industry
- Development and implementation of enhanced training to increase operational efficiencies
