Job description
EastRidge is an evangelical church that welcomes kids, youth and seniors into a great summer program experience. In 2024, EastRidge will focus on 6 weeks of recreational programs for kids, youth and seniors programming. During the month of July there will be a work week in Pembrooke Ontario from July 6-13 at Camp Mishewah.
Our goal is to create engaging and growing camp opportunities for children and youth in the town of Stouffville.
POSITION SUMMARY:
- A Junior Summer Program Staff member will provide assistance to the Camp Director for weekly kids and youth camps and seniors events at EastRidge Church.
- EastRidge Church will provide all training and ongoing coaching to the staff and encourage them to develop their gifts and passions as they relate to working with kids and youth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrates a commitment to growing in Christ.
- Agreement with the statements of faith, vision and values of EastRidge Church.
- Compassion for program participants and a strong desire to serve them.
- Experience in serving children and youth.
- Experience and demonstrable skills in working with volunteers.
- A current police background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the implementation of camp programs.
- Ensure all Public Health guidelines and best practices are adhered to.
- Provides high-quality and enjoyable experiences for camp participants.
- Works to adjust goals and approaches to work as programming develops and changes.
- Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
- Maintains a schedule for campers.
- Facilitates and executes lesson plans for daily activities as required.
- Assists and leads various small and large group activities.
- Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
- Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
- Records and tracks camper’s dietary restrictions/allergies and ensures that the meals/snacks are distributed to them.
- Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your charges at all times.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Junior Summer Program Staff will be directly accountable to the Camp Director and EastRidge Staff.
SUMMER CONTRACT:
- 12 weeks – Friday, June 28th 2024 to Friday August 23rd 2024
- 37.5 hrs/week, $16.55/hour
- Regular Hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm but may change depending on the program of the week. Hours may occasionally also include weekend or evening work.
