We seek an outstanding candidate to work in our quantum customer success team, which is part of our quantum engineering solutions division at Keysight Technologies in the regular/permanent role of R&D Engineer, Advanced.
The candidate is to own success to our strategic quantum computing customers and partners worldwide. For this, the candidate should have a strong scientific background in quantum benchmarking and quantum error detection and mitigation of quantum computing architectures. In addition, the candidate should have an excellent understanding of state-of-the-art quantum control system systems based on direct digital conversion and how these control systems can be applied to cutting-edge quantum applications.
The candidate should be in close proximity to our R&D location in Kitchener, Ontario.
Job duties
- Engage with key and strategic customers to demonstrate leading proof of principle quantum experiments and applications using QCS
- work with QCS R&D team to define the technical specifications of QCS, to continually enable more state-of-the-art quantum use cases
- You will collaborate with our marketing team to create technical content such as code examples and quantum technology specific user guides
- For key accounts, you will represent QES with our business development team as the quantum control solution expert and you will be responsible for customer success on our worldwide quantum computing customer base
- Collect and document user's requirements and develop logical and physical specifications
- Confer with clients to identify and document requirements
- Conduct business and technical studies
- Research, evaluate and synthesize technical information to design, develop and test computer-based systems
- Develop data, process and network models to optimize architecture and to evaluate the performance and reliability of designs
- Plan, design and co-ordinate the development, installation, integration and operation of computer-based systems
- Conduct reviews to assess quality assurance practices, software products and information systems
- Conduct research and provide advice to other information systems professionals regarding the collection, availability and suitability of data
- Execute and document results of software application tests and information and telecommunication systems tests
- Collaborate with specialists to develop programs for clients' special needs
- Act as technical consultant in a particular field of expertise
- Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions
- Write specifications and technical reports
- Consult with clients after sale to provide ongoing support
Skills requirements (includes education and work experience)
- strong scientific background in benchmarking and error detection and mitigation of quantum computing architectures
- excellent understanding of state-of-the-art quantum control system systems based on direct digital conversion and how these control systems can be applied to cutting-edge quantum applications.
- PhD degree in physics, engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in Quantum Physics
- Operational knowledge of phase-coherent, pulse sequencing with AWGs, data acquisition with digitizers, and DC-source biasing
- Proficiency in Python programming
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization and coordination skills
- Ability to consistently deliver on deadlines and delight the customer
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and to influence individuals over geographically dispersed teams
