Job Description
The Opportunity:
The Sales Analyst role is an opportunity to grow and expand knowledge within a dynamic “trend-based” external and internal customer account teams by providing insights and recommendations based on customer-specific, consumer/shopper, and market data analyses consumer/shopper, and market data. By proactively identifying opportunities and threats at the account level, you will play an integral part in the account teams’ strategic planning process and help improve productivity and execution at retail. You will be focused on providing postmortem analysis on key promotions and activations to the sales team. Strong analytical skills, a “can-do” attitude, and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment are essential.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- POS Analysis – Review account team performances via weekly scorecards using key operating indicators, including POS, margin, inventory, and share weekly, and identify opportunities, upside and risk.
- Weekly involvement with the sales team regarding forecasting, replenishment, joint business planning related to in-season execution for promotional planning and fulfillment, domestic and DI order reviews and chase/cancel. Regular attendance at business and account team meetings.
- Attend Customer Meetings for assigned brands to share insights with Merchants/NAMS to allow them to make informed decisions on their categories.
- Category/Customer Activity Analysis - Perform pre- and post-analyses including but not limited to flyer activity, shelf space, market share, retail pricing bands, retail programs, competitive reviews and digital initiatives. Evaluate promotional effectiveness and make recommendations.
- Liaise with Trade Marketing Team, provide analysis support when required, and ensure the maximum ROI.
- Space Planning, Planogram/Productivity Assessment – Utilize Space Planning (JDA Space Planning) to build planograms, analyze and make spacing, assortment and forecasting recommendations based on retailer-specific strategies.
- Research, Insights & Recommendations - Leverage industry data (Circana), consumer & shopper insights to provide recommendations to improve sales and profitability, gain share and provide category solutions to the Customer. Proactively recommend and implement improvements to current processes.
- Strategic Planning Projects – As required to address Business Unit, Account, Brand or Consumer/Shopper issues or opportunities.
- Support Retail Services team supporting the account with insights to maximize their impact on the business.
- Accurate and timely completion of account spec sheets/sell sheets/ customer specific forms
- Coordinate with NWS for domestic new item creation
- Complete Item Maintenance templates for Walmart.
- Be able to pull basic reports from Retail Link and help identify item maintenance issues.
- Website Support - Provide product information, copy and images to support customer website. Ensuring content is uploaded on time by communicating with NWS/S2G and Marketing on a regular basis. Continuously monitor for online content presence, making sure content is visible to consumer and communicating with WM CTAs for problem solving. Assist with content quality by monitoring Exclusive tags
- Coordinate all elements of Planogram set ups including samples, packaging, labelling, set up and shipping to the Walmart Innovation Centre (IC).
- Sample Coordination - order domestic and DI samples as required
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- University degree in Business or Marketing (B.A., B.S. or B.COMM); MBA an asset.
- Experienced with other software packages, including Windows, Cognos and Microsoft Office (advanced knowledge of Ms Excel and PowerPoint).
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
- Experience and exposure to Cognos and Circana
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a team-oriented approach.
- Creative thinker with an aptitude for problem-solving.
- This position requires strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, and presentation skills. Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills are also essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas and levels of business affecting the forecast process.
- Fact-based selling, presentation building for JBP meetings or top 2 tops and comfortable presenting to internal stakeholders or customers (i.e. the role of trusted advisor and category expert).
- Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
