The Opportunity

 

Human Resources is a strategic partner, an employee advocate, and a change agent. Managing the employee experience is crucial for businesses – from onboarding employees, to finding the best fits for both culture and efficiency, to managing interpersonal relationships, and much more. The Human Resources Department delivers various services to its stakeholders including: Accessibility, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Workforce Planning, Diversity, Learning and Development, Job Evaluation and Descriptions, Performance Management, Labour Relations, Wellness, Health and Safety, Compensation and Benefits and HRIS Systems Management.

 

Under the general guidance and direction of the Supervisor of Talent Acquisition, the Talent Acquisition Summer Student position is responsible for supporting recruitment activities within the Human Resources Department of the City of Barrie. Specifically, this position will assist the Talent Acquisition Team with drafting and posting internal and external job postings, coordinating candidate testing and interviews, preparing employment correspondence, and responding to questions on the City’s recruitment policies, practices and procedures. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining recruitment related information and documentation throughout each phase of the recruitment process. As required, the Talent Acquisition Summer Student may also conduct research on talent acquisition best practices, participate in talent attraction events, and provide backup coverage to the Human Resources Administration Team, assisting with inquiries in person and over the phone as needed. Overall, this position plays an integral role in applying fair and equitable recruitment practices to source and attract quality, talented individuals to meet the needs of each City position.

*Please note that this is a requirement of the position for any new employees to the City of Barrie in accordance with the  . Existing employees will be grandparented from this requirement.

 

 

Other Important Information

 

Work Term: May to August 2024

Wage: $18.94 to $25.79 per hour

 

Hours: The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

 

Location: City Hall, 70 Collier Street, Barrie, Ontario
