About this role:

Burlington Hydro Inc. (“BHI”) is currently seeking a Journeyperson Powerline Technician. Reporting to the Powerline Supervisor, this position will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and construction of overhead and underground distribution lines. This is a full-time unionized position.

Core Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Proficient with the construction of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems
• Possess technical knowledge of the operation of the electrical distribution system, as well as the electrical equipment and mapping that comprises the electrical system
• Experienced in the troubleshooting and repair of the electrical distribution system
• Demonstrated work experience in the safe performance of all aspects of electrical overhead and underground distribution system work, up to and including 27.6kV
• Apply all aspects of the Electrical Utility Safety Rules, Book 7 Traffic Manual and relevant aspects of the Company Health and Safety program to all work on the electrical distribution system
• Must be willing to perform regular emergency call-out and on-call duties and work under emergency conditions, with the willingness and ability to respond and be on the work site within one hour of receiving the call
All other duties as assigned

What we are looking for:

• Certified Journey Level Powerline Technician under the MEARIE Powerline Training program or equivalent. Must be licensed to work in Ontario
Successful completion of Secondary School Diploma – OSSD or recognized equivalent

What you'll need to be successful:

• Must be physically able to perform the essential duties in all weather conditions
• Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Drivers’ License with a clean abstract; Class AZ or ARZ preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills; a good work ethic with a positive approach to work and coworkers; energetic and motivated with an excellent attendance record
• Contribute to a positive workplace culture by fostering collaboration, maintaining a positive attitude, supporting our customers, and contributing to a respectful and inclusive environment
Current certification in First Aid and CPR/AED
