Job description

McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, a family-owned company that has been part of the Calgary community and leader in the funeral services industry for over 120 years, is seeking a dedicated and professional Funeral Attendant to join our dynamic and growing team.  

This full-time position works 75 hours bi-weekly with every third weekend off. The core hours for this role are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  with modified hours for scheduled evenings and/or longer than scheduled days.  

With 10 locations in the Calgary area and a staff of over 130 amazing people, this role offers plenty of variety in day-to-day tasks, a positive work culture, and a supportive team environment.

 What You’ll Do: 

This is a key role in the successful execution of providing customer service for funerals and related activities.  Success in this position involves a strong belief in customer service, high attention to detail, a caring and professional demeanor, appearance, and a willingness to do whatever is required in providing excellence in customer service. 

 

 Position Duties

 

What You Bring: 

Completion of the Funeral Director diploma or enrollment in the program is considered an asset

Professional, helpful, and caring demeanor

Physically fit

Able to lift and carry up to 50 kg and move a casket

Ability to work alone or in a team environment

Current Class 5 (non GDL) driver’s license with a driver’s abstract with six or less demerits

Clean driving record and insured for a minimum of 3 years

Excellent oral communication skills. A second language is considered an asset

Computer skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and Google Docs

Knowledge of iPhone use

 

Must be comfortable wearing the company uniform and maintaining professional grooming standards as set forth by the company

Strong customer service skills

Sensitivity to cultural practices

A clear background check (Security Clearance)

Availability to work all shifts as scheduled, including weekends and holidays with the ability to work past scheduled hours as required to meet the needs of the families we serve

 

 What We Offer: 

Starting wage of $20.50/hour

 

Core shift times of 8:30am – 4:30pm, 75 hours biweekly

 

Participation in the company quarterly bonus plan - up to 10% of base earnings
