Job description
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting a Yard Person (Shipper/Receiver) based in our Edmonton, AB (6907 36 Street NW) manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Production Manager and working closely with the Crane Operator, the Yard Person is accountable for assisting in shipping, receiving, as well as storing products, materials and supplies. The Yard Person will also assist with Inventory when required.
Duties & Accountabilities
- Follow company policies and procedures for a safe and healthy work space
- Transport and organize completed products, accessories, materials and supplies for storage or shipment preparation
- Deliver and move parts, supplies and products for production use
- Assist and operators in moving equipment
- Verify materials and supplies by storing raw materials and maintaining the tracking system
- Notify supervisor of damage or non-conformance to allow proper and timely repairs before product shipment
- Maintain equipment and tools as well as all warehouse and yard areas
- Other activities as required
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Basic computer skills including an understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Good understanding of the English language including verbal, written, and reading skills
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills with an attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to learn how to operate necessary tools and equipment, including forklift and related machinery
- Proven team player with a strong work ethic, and a high sense of values, principles and integrity
- Comfortable working in a plant environment
- Good housekeeping skills
- Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces when required
- Ability to work Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm, including overtime and weekends as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting up to 20-50 lbs., bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
