OVERVIEW:
Barrie Free Methodist Church is a vibrant 130+ member church on the north end of Barrie, that is seeking a FULL TIME Property Custodian who wants to join a team that is meeting the needs of their community. They should be a self-starter who is well organized, able to work positively with staff, congregation, contractors, rental groups, community persons and have experience in building maintenance. They will be responsible for janitorial duties, maintenance and basic repairs of the church and its property to ensure a clean, safe and attractive environment for all parishioners, employees and members of our community who would use the facility. The successful candidate will report to the Pastor/Facilities Chair Person.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Mechanically inclined and proficient with use of small hand tools and other related equipment such as floor cleaning machines, lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc.
- Must be in good physical condition and strength, as this position requires standing, and bending for extended periods of time, as well as reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work cooperatively with staff, volunteers of the church, related organizations and external contractors · Able to build, lead & manage teams.
- Willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends as assigned; this position revolves around church activities
- Willing to promote the mission of Barrie Free Methodist Church through words and actions while on duty and/or representing Barrie Free Methodist Church.
- Willing to extend hospitality to those using the grounds and facilities.
- A criminal background check will be required of the successful applicant and upon hire, the completion of our Abuse Protection and Prevention program. JOB TYPE: Full time with flexible hours of work
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience is preferred.
