Description

The Formwork Estimator plays a crucial role within a construction company specializing in building and civil engineering formwork projects. Responsible for assessing costs and preparing accurate estimates for these projects, this individual contributes to ensuring their financial and operational success.

Responsibilities

Carefully review architectural plans, technical specifications, and tender documents to understand the specific requirements of the formwork project.
Estimate the costs associated with formwork for buildings and civil structures, including materials, labor, equipment, and overheads, with precision.
Analyze drawings and specifications to identify formwork needs and evaluate the necessary quantities.
Obtain quotes from suppliers for formwork materials, comparing offers to select the most cost-effective options.
Utilize specialized software to prepare detailed estimates, integrating quantitative data with unit prices and overheads to establish an overall budget for the formwork project.
Prepare comprehensive estimate proposals, explaining cost details and addressing questions from clients and stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, project managers, and other team members to ensure estimates meet the project requirements and budget objectives.

Requirements

Degree in estimation, civil engineering, construction, or any relevant combination of education and experience.
Relevant experience in estimating building and civil engineering formwork projects, an asset.
Knowledge of formwork materials, techniques, and associated costs is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
Proficiency in cost estimation software and computer tools.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret engineering plans and technical specifications.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with clients, suppliers, and project team members.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict project deadlines.
Attention to detail and precision in estimating work to ensure the accuracy of projected costs.
Organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities efficiently.
