Job description
The Assistant Chief Pilot assists the Chief Pilot(s) in managing the flight operations of Wasaya Airways LP.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Foster a healthy working environment and promote a positive climate within the workplace.
- Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers.
- Complete flight operations duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot or Director of Flight Operations, including but not limited to:
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and policies.
- Assist with the development and implementation of all required approved training programs for the flight crews.
- Draft, issue, and manage compliance by pilots with directives and notices to the flight crews as required, including compliance with CARS and any additional regulatory obligations.
- Determine the operational suitability and requirements of all aerodromes and routes served by the company.
- Initiate action and distribute SMS reports dealing with flight crews and obligations of the same to comply with company policies and related duties.
- Exercise administrative, managerial, and supervisory control over pilots.
- Monitor the performance of pilots.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring and termination process of flight crew.
- Liaise with all company departments and outside agencies as required.
- Perform disciplinary actions as per Company Policy and Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Assist in all assigned flight safety accident/incident investigations.
- Perform line checks and flight duties as required.
- Any other flight operations related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- ATPL
- Valid IFR
- Valid Category 1 Medical.
- Current PPC (or ability to obtain) on an aircraft currently operated by Wasaya Airways.
- Ability to effectively plan and organize the activities of others.
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Excellent computer skills, MS-Office preferable, proficient in use of internet and email.
- Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always.
- Strong understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards.
Preferred Experience
- Graduated from an Aviation College degree or diploma program.
- Two crew multi-engine turbine.
- Flight Management System (FMS) and/or glass cockpit.
- Northern Ontario flight operations.
- Previous aviation supervisory or training roles.
- Able to work in a team environment, as well as unsupervised.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Working Conditions
- Travel is required.
- Flexible working conditions as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift or move up to 20lbs.
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
