Mechanical EIT – Full-time, Permanent
As a Mechanical E.I.T., you will work for a multi-disciplined consulting engineering firm with an excellent reputation in the industry. The successful candidate is someone who has a thorough understanding of industry practices and processes and a current working knowledge of applicable codes and standards for mechanical systems in multi-unit residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional structures. You will have some knowledge of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, including fire protection, chilled water, hydronic heating, plumbing, and draining systems. You will be a results-driven individual with the ability to effectively manage your time and multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- Relevant work experience in the market we serve (multi-unit residential/condominium sector)
- Working towards and obtaining P.Eng. designation in Ontario is mandatory and must possess Professional Engineers Seal
- Working knowledge of the:
- Ontario Building Code
- ASHRAE Standards
- National Plumbing Code of Canada
- Ontario Fire Code
- CSA Standards, including Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code
- NFPA Standards, including NFPA 13 (Sprinkler Systems)
- Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Strong technical report writing skills
- Experience preparing technical audits and repair planning and reserve fund studies
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written, and excellent communication skills
- Computer literate in MS applications (Word, Excel) and understanding of CAD
- Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle in good working order to attend on-site meetings
Job Duties:
- Making recommendations to clients for upgrading mechanical equipment or systems
- Preparing tender specifications and performing bid analyses
- Providing technical oversight and support and coordination of project work
- Business development through promotion of our services
- Drafting proposals and scope of work documentation
- Conduct site investigations and prepare reports and recommendations
- Other duties as assigned, which are typically performed by one in such a position employed by a business or organization similar to that of Belanger Engineering.
