THE ROLE
Our client, SMS Equipment, is seeking an Equipment Finance Regional Manager to join their team based in Acheson, AB. This senior position is responsible for managing the Equipment Finance Department including Branch Equipment Finance Representatives and Corporate Office support staff, developing an Equipment Finance Vision, Mission, and Value consistent with Corporate objectives and establishing relationships with finance companies to provide superior financing offerings to customers.
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership and mentorship to Equipment Finance Representatives developing their abilities to improve the effectiveness of the department.
- Support Equipment Finance Representatives with complicated equipment finance packages and involves Director, Corporate Finance and VP, Equipment Sales in determining out of the box solutions for key customers.
- Assist the Director, Corporate Finance in strategic planning for Department goals.
- Promote the sale of Komatsu, BOMAG and Takeuchi products through attractive financing solutions.
- Identify equipment financing programs within the portfolio of available financing sources in order to support sales.
- Develop and build a network of contacts within the equipment financing community
- Prepare financing presentations for customers that may be delivered directly or by the Equipment Finance Representatives.
- Educate sale representatives and customers on financing and leasing options.
- Attend weekly Equipment sales call to provide feed back on existing deals and assist in supporting deals and issues raised by Sales Representatives.
- Review and optimize the equipment finance process to support Equipment Sales, including how financing applications and contracts for each financial institution are prepared and the process of taking the equipment financing request through to successful completion.
- In situations where the financing arrangements are complex, take the lead role from the Equipment Finance Representative to complete the equipment sale.
- Attend equipment financing conferences as required.
- Provide risk assessment of customer based on review of financial information and credit review.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- The successful candidate will have a related post-secondary education paired with a minimum of 10 years credit and/or finance experience. Other requirements include:
- A CPA or an MBA is considered an asset.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to influence internal and external customers and external financing companies.
- Proven ability to perform effectively in a fast paced, multi-project, and dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated experience in understanding the process of preparing financing documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to travel to SMS branches as required.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of computer software applications typically used including MS Office and TValue.
- Ability to speak and write in French is an asset.
