Job description
Our client is a well-established distribution company with sales in Canada and the US. They are a mid-sized, multinational company looking for a Tax Manager with a proven track record in tax management. New ownership in Sweden is providing world class expertise and expansion internationally.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our Finance and Accounting team as Tax Manager. Reporting to the Vice-President of Finance, in this key role you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local, federal, and international tax regulations, minimizing tax liabilities, and optimizing the company’s overall tax strategy.
Responsibilities:
Tax Planning and Compliance:
- Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to minimize the company’s tax liabilities.
- Ensure compliance with local, federal and international tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and review tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Transfer Pricing:
- Oversee transfer pricing policies and documentation to ensure alignment with global regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain arm’s length pricing.
Tax Audits and Controversies:
- Manage tax audits and inquiries, liaising with tax authorities as necessary.
- Resolve tax controversies and implement corrective actions.
Financial Reporting:
- Work closely with the finance team to incorporate tax implications into financial statements.
- Provide accurate and timely tax information for financial reporting purposes.
Advisory and Risk Management:
- Advise management on potential tax risks and opportunities.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate tax risks and enhance compliance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax management, preferably in a multinational corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of local and international tax regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in relevant tax software and Microsoft Excel.
