Job Description: This position is responsible for the development and support of population health promotion initiatives that improve the nutritional health of the residents of former Keewatin Yatth and former Mamawetan Churchill River Health Regions and the Athabasca Health Authority. Responsibilities include needs assessments, planning, organizing, implementing, managing, coordinating, and evaluating public health nutrition programs and services, based on population health indicators and the determinants of health. As well, this position requires the application of population health promotion via sustainable and equitable improvements in food and nutrition systems in the community. Population health promotion strategies commonly employed include policy development, coalition building, advocacy, community development, health education, political action, and community-based research. These responsibilities require taking a lead role in initiating and fostering collaborations and partnerships with a variety of intersectoral organizations, community groups, and individuals. Collaborating is a necessary component since this position involves a collective ownership throughout the entire needs assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation cycle.
Required Qualifications
Registered or eligible for registration with the Dietitians of Canada
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Dietitians Association
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition or equivalent and completion of a dietetic internship which is accredited by Dietitians of Canada and which includes a clinical component.
