In this position, your goal is to provide excellence in systems understanding of existing platforms, be the key Flatbed stakeholder in development of new autonomous robotic platforms and refinement of existing autonomous robotic platforms. In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for further optimization of the flatbed platforms through system performance analysis, experimentation, performance level analysis, safety analysis and liaison with software teams to provide input and output for platform development and sustaining.
As our Systems Designer, you will be responsible for understanding and improving the performance envelope, overall safety (working with our Certifications and Compliance lead) and quality of our flatbed platforms. You are organized (physically and when communicating), have strong attention to detail, you hold experience where you have designed robotic product/s or other advanced technologies. You have experience understanding and performing different types of analysis using data, metrics to design, develop and improve performance. You hold safety as the highest priority and are able to identify and implement controls for factors that may impact product quality and design. You will use your experience with systems engineering to support the greater hardware engineering department with insights, system performance indicators, planned improvements and advancement of robotic technology.
The ideal candidate for this position must be a real self-starter with willingness to learn, be coached and work in a dynamic high performing team where things can change rapidly.
Primary responsibilities include:
Detailed design of AMR systems to meet the customer and market functional and performance requirements; this includes workflow design (state diagrams), generating attachment (additional products that work with our robots as a base) system design requirements, understanding of and development/modification of middle layer software logic using PLC logic design and modification
Project planning for the key deliverables and meeting those timelines, developing strong system performance requirements, safety requirements and general requirements specification documents of Flatbed AMRs and other systems including attachments;
Authoring & executing acceptance test plans for verification and validation of system and sub-system functionality and performance
Developing and maintaining the OTTO Flatbed Robotics Systems knowledge base for greater Hardware Department;
Development & design of new Flatbed AMR systems; this includes becoming the subject matter expert for all Flatbed robotic systems and ensuring all subsystems work together harmoniously to achieve system requirements
