About the Role

The Area Leader is responsible to support the Team Members in the performance of their duties focusing on safety, people, quality, productivity and all company/regulatory policies and procedures

Your Responsibilities

• Oversees the utilization of forklifts, reach trucks, tuggers or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks and within the facility
• Investigates Material flow problems and difficulties, develops solutions to prevent these from happening in the future.
• Assists in inventory of stock and stock rotation to maintain FIFO methodology.
• Responds to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules, if needed, by utilizing the ANDON process to communicate across all departments.
• Complete daily layered audits to include safety, standardized work, housekeeping, 5S, and Material inventory/storage compliance.
• Facilitate start of shift / end of shift meetings, if required.
• Monitors the floor for new ways to improve material flow and prevent safety concerns.
• Lead and schedule the activities of team members/leaders
• Develop Team Members/Leaders through coaching and mentoring
• Promote principles of MOS and SPQP
• Establish and maintain effective communications with all Departments.
• Participate in manpower planning and recruiting
• Promote accountability through application of the progressive discipline policy
• Provide formal and informal performance feedback to Team Members
• Monitor, track and improve upon key performance indicators.
• Ensure training for Team Members as outlined in the training matrix
• Cross train Team Members to maximize flexibility supporting SPQP
• Conduct accident / incident investigations
• Implement corrective actions for Safety, Quality and all other audits
• Know and understand process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to this job function.
• Follow and comply with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (ie. IATF 16949, ISO14001)
• Understand, promote and live by Magna’s philosophies and Employee Charter

Who we are looking for

• Community College Diploma in Materials Management
• Minimum three years leadership experience in manufacturing environment, preferably
• Automotive
• Minimum three years related experience
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Proficient in computer use
• Ability to uphold confidentiality
• Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs
