About Our Opportunity


As the Sport and Recreation Lead, you will work with and report to the Manager of Sport and Recreation in the Community, Sport and Recreation Division. You will coordinate programs, services and collaborate on policies and strategies that support the sport and recreation sector in Nova Scotia.

As the lead, you will work horizontally across government and with external partners to ensure your work is aligned with key government priorities such as the future Canadian Sport Policy 2024-2034, the Shared Strategy for Advancing Recreation in Nova Scotia and ‘Let’s Get Moving’ strategy for Physical Activity.

Primary Accountabilities


You will lead and collaborate on the planning, development, administration and evaluation of provincial policies, strategies and programs that aim to support and expand the capacity of the sport and recreation delivery systems. You will also provide guidance, support and expertise to provincial and national organizations, branch staff, other government departments, municipalities, and communities in the development of sport policies, plans, and initiatives.


You will lead/coordinate and participate in appropriate committees and initiatives that advance the promotion and delivery of recreation and sport opportunities. You will also work to advance Nova Scotia’s implementation of the Framework for Recreation in Canada, through the Shared Strategy for Advancing Recreation in Nova Scotia and the implementation of the Canadian Sport Policy


As the ‘Lead’ you will also:

Articulate the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Qualifications and Experience


To be successful in this role, you will have a bachelor’s degree in recreation/sport management, health promotion or community development plus six (6) years of related experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience in sport, recreation, physical activity and community development.


You will also have the following:

This is a TERM employment opportunity with anticipated end date of January 2, 2025 . The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

What We Offer

 

 

Pay Grade: PR 17  

Salary Range:  $3,091.70 - $3,631.17 Bi-Weekly
