Job Title: Sybase DBA (Hybrid)
12-month contract
T4 hourly rate: 44 CAD/hour
Your new company
Our client, a multinational information technology services and consulting company is looking to onboard a Sybase DBA (Hybrid) in Halifax, NS on a 12-month contract.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements
• Manage production environments, including implementation, maintenance, and development of databases
• Set up/configure ASE server databases on Unix/Windows platforms
• Install and configure ASE Sybase pm various environments with replication knowledge.
• Support high availability of servers/databases through replication
• Perform performance tuning of databases and address database corruption
• Monitor data server error logs and proactively manage database growth.
• Set up thresholds for data/log segments and create logins/users/aliases.
• Coordinate with Sybase support when required and handle back up and recovery
• Schedule periodic jobs using cron utility and manage capacity for device spaces.
• Support on-call for ad-hoc issues, utilizing ticketing tools like remedy/ITSM, and demonstrate proficiency in database migration, patch management, shell-scripting, and incident/change management
What you bring to the role
• Experience with Sybase DB Administration
• Strong understanding of Performance Management
• Hands-on experience with DB backup and Restore
• Nice to have: SQL Server Knowledge, Ansible Scripting, and ASE Certification
