Job description
First General - Winnipeg is looking to expand our team. We are a 24-hour emergency response company, providing property disaster restoration to residential and commercial properties. As the Restoration Technician, you will be responsible for remediating affected buildings from the effects of fire, smoke, water, or wind. As part of our team, you may be exposed to working extended hours in difficult situations that are physically demanding. We are seeking an individual with a strong work ethic, who is willing to be trained and will be a good fit to our company culture.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
• Perform controlled demolition of affected building materials (drywall, plaster, insulation, vapour barrier, casings, flooring) and prepare for reconstruction. • Ensures building samples are saved and provided to the Project Manager to match like kind. (drywall, paint, trim, flooring, etc). • Mentor and provide onsite training and coaching to Emergency Field Technicians. • Able to engage in physical activities, lift and carry heavy equipment, contents, clean and haul building debris. • Completes psychometric readings. • Able to work in confined spaces and at heights. • Provide own personal tools. • Maintain a clean and safe work site, and ensure Company, Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are being followed by you and your team. • Support and participate in continuous improvement in skills and training. • Updates all stakeholders involved relative to work progress: photos, e-mail correspondence, job status reports, etc. • Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the project. • Ensures project is completed within the allotted time scheduled. • Holds IICRC accreditation based on the following courses, but not limited to: o Water damage restoration o Fire and smoke restoration o Odor control technician o Applied structure drying o Microbial remediation o Hazardous material contamination o Trauma scene cleaning • Ensures all material and equipment used on site is documented and completed correctly for handoff to the Emergency Coordinator. • Additional duties as required.
Requirements:
• The role requires at least 2 years of experience with Restoration. • Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and be able to provide criminal background and child abuse register check. • Must be physically fit, and able to lift up to 50 lbs (drying equipment and debris). • Typical work sites include category 1, 2, and 3 water, mold, asbestos, fire, and smoke conditions. • Computer skills – MS Office, Outlook, Restoration Manager, Xactimate. Ability to work well alone as well as in a team environment. • Must be detail-oriented. • Must be computer literate. • Ability to work unsupervised, and in a team environment. • Practical knowledge of safe operation of power and hand tools. • Positive & professional attitude. • CSA steel toe footwear and headwear must be worn at all times when on job sites or in the warehouse.
