Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

(Permanent Position)

DUTIES

The successful applicant will perform complex and responsible clerical work, requiring an ability to make sound decisions in an academic department with undergraduate and graduate programs and will be responsible for all financial, administrative and human resource tasks within the department. Duties include providing support to the academic function of the department including assistance with compilation of teaching plans, course offerings, and timetable maintenance; processing all human resource hiring requests (faculty, staff and students); providing policy and procedural advice to faculty, staff and students; preparing budget requests for transmission to the Dean’s Office; reviewing budget transactions using Banner Finance; preparing and maintaining expenditure records using Excel or a similar spreadsheet program; processing travel-related and research grant documents as per University policies and procedures; maintaining a network of contacts with other academic units and administrative offices on campus; responding to requests for general assistance; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (3-5 years) in responsible clerical work; completion of a two year program supplemented by courses in business administration; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills; proficiency with spreadsheet design and manipulation; knowledge of Banner Systems (HR, Student and Finance); and thorough knowledge of University policies and procedures. A high level of organizational ability and demonstrated effectiveness in an office environment is required.

SALARY $55,110 - $64,645 per annum (Non- Bargaining)
