Job description

Hawksworth Restaurant Group is seeking an experienced Pastry Jr Sous Chef. Details as follows:

Qualifications:

-Have a strong working knowledge of European, Canadian and American pastry
-Previous experience in an equivalent business for minimum 3 years
-Accreditation from a recognized culinary school and Red Seal Certificate or equivalent trade paper preferred
-Enthusiastic, outgoing personality, with a strong ability to train staff
-High standards of food quality, handling and presentation

Administrative:
-Report directly to the Pastry Chef and Chef de Cuisine
-Assists in scheduling of pastry brigade
-Assists Pastry chef with inventory on a monthly basis
-Completes daily ordering related to pastry department
-Assists with menu creation, writing of menu syllabus and recipe packages
-Assist Pastry Chef in completion of probation and annual reviews
-Strive to constantly improve all pastry preparation, presentations and menu selections
-Perform any other reasonable duties as required by Pastry chef or Chef de Cuisine

Operational:
-Attend sous chef/management meetings
-Must be flexible with hours worked and be willing to work weekends and holidays
-Promote a fun, professional, and disciplined work environment
-Support, coach, lead and motivate kitchen colleagues
-Ensure all kitchen colleagues are aware of standards and expectations
-Ensure proper hygiene as per Canadian Heath Board
-Perform any other reasonable duties as required by Pastry Chef or Chef de Cuisine
