POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Benefits Manager who is highly inspired and passionate for benefits administration and leading execution of the company’s Canadian and US benefits programs. This position is responsible for ensuring all benefits programs are compliant and have a positive impact on the goals of our organization including attracting and retaining the top talent in the workplace. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
· Manage and administer all company benefits including medical, dental, extended health, life insurance, income replacement programs, and retirement plans.
· Oversee the management and relationship with benefit vendors and brokers including daily administration, compliance, and handling complex benefits issues.
· Lead in partnership with HR team members and leadership advising on benefit inquires and provide additional support for policies, associate relations, and ensure benefit or policy design changes cascade to appropriate systems and HR teams.
· Provide strategic and administrative support for union negotiations for benefits.
· Work closely with HR, Payroll and Systems teams to design, maintain our benefit administration platform, and ensure accurate records including system audits and testing as required.
· Administer and lead annual open enrollment process by recommending program changes and gaining approval while supporting the design and accuracy of the IT enrollment system.
· Develop and create communication plans and strategy to ensure team members understand benefit programs and services as part of their total rewards package.
· Manage and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and reporting requirements related to benefits in the Canadian and US system.
· Collaborate with Finance Department to prepare annual benefit budgets and ongoing reporting to budgets, trend and spend.
· Develop and issue regular benefit utilization and cost reporting.
· Extract information from benefit surveys to stay abreast of how we compare with our industry for benefit offerings and monitor benefit program trends and prevailing practices among similar organizations and recommend changes as needed.
· Drive continuous improvement in benefit administration through automation.
· Manage any request for proposal process and reporting on benefit enrollment, utilization, costs and related data and trends; including monthly/quarterly experience, claims analysis, financial reporting, and annual enrollment reporting.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
· Post secondary education in human resources or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Extensive knowledge and experience in Canadian and US benefit practices, principles, laws, and regulations.
· Minimum of five years of relevant benefits management experience with global experience preferred.
· Proficient in MS Office tools with strong excel and power point skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Solid project management, problem-solving and time-management skills
· Proven ability to analyze data and make sound recommendations based on facts and logic.

· Certified Employee Benefits Specialist Certification would be considered an asset.
· Travel up to 10-15%
