Job description
This is a contract position for a Business Intelligence Specialist for our public sector client.
Work location: North York
Duration: Fifteen Months
7.25 hours/day
This is a Hybrid role that requires the candidate to be onsite 3 days of the week (This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non-negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.)

Responsibilities
Prepare a detailed BI user requirement document
Document the new requirements and complete analysis and design document
Convert the user requirements into business model for Cognos BI
Convert the business model into Framework Manager Models
Build the security model for the BI implementation
Create metadata, user groups and folder structure for BI objects
Migrate standard reports from Cognos v11.1 on-premises to Cognos v11.2 on Cloud Pak for Data on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Develop reports in Cognos on Cloud Pak for Data and AWS Redshift database
Test, debug, re-engineer standard reports and dashboards in Cognos on AWS
Convert Dynamic Cubes functionality to DMR or Transformer Cubes without any loss in performance
Document test cases to ensure expected functionality of the reports
Deploy reports using Cognos Framework Manager
Develop SQL and PLSQL processes and procedures to implement complex logic.
Assist with SQL tuning and optimization activities related to the Cognos reports.
Help to optimize the SQL and PL/SQL process for optimal report performance.
Prepare scripts and documentation for the data preparation process and regular performance checks & monitoring.
Support user acceptance testing and system implementation.
Train SMEs or conduct demos on self-serve BI reporting.
Any other deliverables as assigned by the Project/Resource Manager.
Knowledge transfer to HSC staff in the form of a detailed guide or as per project requirements.
Qualifications
Experience in Cognos Analytics reporting; modeling with Framework Manager, Transformer, Dynamic Cube Designer, Data Module, Dataset, SDK; implementing point-in-time architecture; testing with Lifecycle Manager (5+ years)
Experience in AWS Cloud technologies, specifically AWS Redshift
Experience in Cognos migration and testing skills (reporting, dashboarding, embedded JavaScript, embedded SQL)
