IB MYP/DP Mandarin Language Teacher

(This position will commence late August 2024)

This is a permanent part time position Monday to Friday, commencing late August 2024.

The successful candidate will work with students to help them reach their full potential in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme. There is a possibility of conversion to a full time opportunity.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Providing students an educational experience designed to inspire and challenge students to discover the best of who they are and to achieve their full potential
• Ensuring a welcoming classroom environment in a manner that reflects the TMS commitment to supporting students and their families, and the motto “I am Known”
• Participating actively in faculty and department meetings to plan, review and update the written curriculum
• Ensuring the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with IB and Ministry of Education curriculum ensuring differentiation
• Establishing good relationships with teachers, staff and parents across the school community
• Being an active and positive participant in the extracurricular and community life of the school
• Developing an afterschool Mandarin club for Grades 7-9 to promote learning in Mandarin

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:

• A Bachelor of Education Degree
• Specialized experience teaching Mandarin (LKBBD, LKBCU and LKBDU) for Grades 10-12
• Ontario College of Teachers Certification
• International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP)/Diploma Programme (DP) experience is considered a strong asset
• A commitment to the extracurricular life of the School and must be an energetic team player excited by the opportunity of helping shape the growth of our IB MYP/DP school
• Ability to instruct in a laptop environment
• A current Vulnerable Sector Check
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED
