What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:
- Coordinate the administration of the local systems environment by:
- Configuring and customizing SharePoint systems according to company specifications, building scalable web applications, writing and modifying code, debugging software, and training staff.
- Identification and report workstation security vulnerabilities to IT manager and supervisor
- Conduct needs analyses for clients
- Ensure a proper network infrastructure is maintained of the requirement and operation of hardware, software, and services for site(s)
- Feedback for local information technology plans and related training plans in consultation with clients;
- Periodic Information Technology Helpdesk Support
- installing and configuring software/hardware and networks and implementing upgrades to existing systems and new hardware/software consistent with SLPC IT initiatives and standards;
- Assist in systems operation and administration, coordinating messaging systems, Local Area Networks (LANs), and Wide Area Networks (WANs)
- establishing network specifications by conferring with the IT Team, and users; analyzing workflow, access to information, and security requirements.
- Contribution to projects such as:
- local implementation of Commission-wide systems; (Admissions, Retail, ERP, SharePoint, Microsoft 365 Suites)
- Modifications to office systems, ensuring compatibility and connectivity with Commission systems;
- Ensure business continuity operations, systems performance, and risk mitigation by:
- monitoring system/network performance to ensure procedures and meeting SLPC disaster recovery plans;
- Participate in testing and acceptance criteria for upgrades, and post-installation reviews;
- Participate in the securing of the network or networks by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; contributing to IT department documentation;
- Upgrade network through IT department-led testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
- Liaising with all business / functional units and corporate offices by:
- representing client groups on SLPC initiatives/committees/projects;
- Providing Team Synergy in the work unit by:
- providing advice, guidance, and assistance to other staff in the work unit;
- monitoring work to ensure quality, completion, and compliance.
- Embody the SLPC's equity, diversity, and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
- Valid Class "G" driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
You Have:
- Expert technical support, understanding, and experience with Microsoft SharePoint to: use SharePoint APIs to create custom solutions, build and manage large SharePoint utilize SharePoint's "Out of the Box" features, build and manage large SharePoint document libraries, webpages and assets;
- An understanding of other MS Cloud services, and familiarity with third-party tools;
- In-depth understanding and project experience with process automation through Power BI and Power Automation tools
- Attention to detail, support, and communication in user-friendly language, develop and configure complex information technology systems, manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment, take initiative and work independently, work within a team environment, meet deadlines and work flexible hours, adapt to manage change, and to work with confidential and sensitive information.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
You have:
- Oral communications skills to direct staff, consultants, and contractors and resolve problems;
- Written communication skills to: prepare and maintain documentation on network infrastructure, hardware, software, applications, and modifications; prepare operating and maintenance procedures;
- Interpersonal skills to represent and explain clients' requirements to corporate systems services in the development of Commission applications, and provide explanations and clarification of technical advantages and limitations of hardware and software to clients.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
You can learn or have current knowledge of:
- Windows Server 2019, Microsoft 365, Hyper-V and VMWare ESXi administration, Exchange and Azure and Local AD;
- Networking technologies and topologies (e.g. network operating systems, messaging systems, gateways, concentrators, routers, Ethernet, Fibre Optics, and Microwave physical layout of LAN / WAN communications);
- General knowledge of Internet, security and routing protocols (e.g. TCP / IP, SMTP, SNMP, DMARC, DKIM, SPF, FTP, RIP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, Packet Filtering);
- Administering servers, computers, Office 365 Enterprise, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, software deployment, security updates and patches;
- Administrative proficiency in servers (VM, Hyper-V, On-prem, Cloud), personal computer technology and peripherals, application software, operating systems, diagnostic software, centralized anti-virus programs, software images;
- Microsoft Office 365 productivity suite, Windows 10 and 11 Operating Systems, Apple IOS
- Microsoft 365 Enterprise – SharePoint Development, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Exchange/Outlook, Azure Active Directory;
- SharePoint Developer Skills - Net, C#, CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, and jQuery, ‘Out of the Box' Tools, Document and Dashboard Expertise, create, edit, and even modify web pages, ability to develop SharePoint websites;
- Power BI development experience;
- Power Automate – Process improvement design experience;
- Administrating Computer/Network environments with 200+ Users, 300+ Computers and Azure Hybrid AD trusted sites;
- Operating systems – Windows Server 2012-2019, Windows 10/11 Pro, MacOS;
- Mobile Operating Systems with Enterprise Office 365 suite with One Drive and SharePoint integration– IOS, Android.
JUDGMENT, ORGANIZATIONAL AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS:
You have:
- Reasoning and problem-solving skills to administer and maintain continued operation of network and telecommunication systems and provide systems support to address needs of designated client group;
- The ability to analyze and assist clients in addressing short/long-term information technology requirements by advising on the development of site-specific systems and systems improvements, research and recommend the acquisition of new hardware, software, and equipment, assess acceptability and conformance to standards and evaluate the potential impact of proposed changes on systems performance;
- Cyber Security and Operating system vulnerability awareness and ability to report and address issues;
- Evaluative and problem-solving skills to: assess operating problems; diagnose source/cause (hardware failure, software problem, user error), and resolve by repairing equipment, making changes to operating system set-up, providing instruction and assistance to users, and making changes to local applications software;
- Organizational and coordination skills to: coordinate activities with clients and/or systems/resource areas to ensure proper definition of systems development requirements, training, testing, and implementation, installation and support for systems and technology.
LEADERSHIP SKILLS:
You have:
- The ability to monitor and assess system performance and develop/implement local modifications and procedures to improve performance;
- Supervisory skills to: follow up on quality of work, and completion of tasks according to deadlines and schedules; provide technical instructions and guidance; resolve problems and make recommendations to manager and supervisor regarding level of performance;
- An understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations that apply to the work, and knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health and safety in the workplace to ensure compliance when performing supervisory / leadership responsibilities.
