Job description

We’re hiring two Police and Court Support Advocates to join our clinical services team!

This is a full-time position under the direct supervision of the Police and Court Support (PACS) Team Lead, Clinical Director of Child and Youth Services, and the Director of Client Care Services.

The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE) is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that supports children, youths, and adults who have experienced sexual abuse or assault, and educates the public about sexual violence. All work at SACE will reflect the Mission Statement and philosophical beliefs of the organization.

The current operational hours in the Police and Court Support (PACS) Program are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Flexibility to work weekday evenings and weekends is a requirement. The expected caseload for this position may need to decrease occasionally depending on the circumstances and workload.

Eligibility: We understand that clients who have accessed our services may want to work at SACE, and ask that it has been at least two years since your last engagement with either counselling or Support and Information Line services before applying. It is important that our Directors of Clinical Services do not feel that your employment with SACE would in any way compromise your healing, or create an ethical dilemma regarding a dual relationship with your previous counsellor.

Interview dates: Tuesday, April 9 and Tuesday, April 16, 2024 (if necessary). Interviewees will be contacted via email to schedule a 30-minute phone interview and to book an interview time for these dates.

Support and Information Line training dates

: The successful candidate will be asked to attend the SACE Support and Information Line training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings

(6 to 9 p.m.), and some Saturdays (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), in between and Tuesday, June 25. Staff will be compensated for these training hours with time off in lieu (TOIL).  

Position start date: End of April 2024, likely April 29.
