Junior Design-drafter

We are currently seeking a Junior Drafter who specializes in Electrical Design & Drafting to join the Design & Drafting team in Burnaby, assisting with designing, development, and delivering engineering, including system planning and studies, procurement, and construction solutions for high voltage power transmission line and substation projects in North America and abroad.
Your role within the team
Translating engineering sketches and markups into properly documented drawings (including schematics, wiring, AC & DC single line diagrams, arrangement drawings etc. for substations and transmission lines) that include the detailing wiring diagrams utilizing predefined standards.
Assisting Engineers on projects by taking their preliminary design drawings and completing the detailed design.
Ensuring drawings are produced in accordance with applicable drafting codes and standards.
Assisting Engineers and project team members with the preparation and assembling of Issued for Construction documents and Drawing Packages.
Assisting Engineers with management of site drawing lists and drawings requests.
Providing information and assistance to Engineers throughout the project for required approvals and sign-off.
Reviewing and assessing field construction marks to develop As-Built Drawing Packages.
Opportunity to attend occasional project site visits to gather design details, as required.

The Ideal Candidate:
Drafting diploma from a recognized technical institute or equivalent work experience.
A minimum of 0-2 years' experience as a drafter in the field of high voltage transmission and Distribution substation physical layout and section drawings is considered to have gained the required experience for the position.
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; use of MicroStation would be an asset.
General knowledge of electrical/Protection & Control design.
Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment or independently.
Logical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $48,300 - $66,400 annually). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
