Our Welland, Ontario Office is looking for a People Operations Manager who believes in an environment of supporting both the growth of the organization and recognizing the value that HR brings. The Opportunity
The successful incumbent will report to the VP, People Operations. The role will be a major contributor to creating, delivering, maintaining and rolling out best practices in the area of HR while recognizing our most important assets – our people!
You must be able to work in collaboration with others, possess the innate ability to comprehend business and operational needs and translate these needs into policy and procedures that provide an employee-oriented, high performance work environment that is critical for success. You will need to understand and respect the partnership of the management team, and work to promote strong relationships within the organization.
The People Operations Manager will be responsible for executing on a variety of Human Resources programs, with particular emphasis in the areas of Talent Development, Compensation, Performance Management, Employee Relations, Benefits, Payroll and Organizational Development.
Responsibilities Include:
• Develop/Revise as needed policies, procedures, and guidelines for the organization ensuring they meet the needs of the employees, business objectives and employment standards.
• Provide administrative services with respect to human resources correspondence as well as provide guidance and consultation in the areas of Provincial and Federal Laws, Human Rights Legislation, and Employment Standards and Ministry of Labour.
• Coordinate and administer the Annual Performance Management Program including supporting Managers and Employees throughout the process.
• Manage employee relations with both management and employees and be an employee advocate when appropriate.
• Support and coach managers on employee relations matters including performance and disciplinary discussions, ensuring managers have the tools they require to follow HR processes and protocols.
• Advise managers in appropriate resolution of employee relation issues or progressive discipline; oversees and conducts investigations on potential violence and harassment situations; conducts or/advises on mediation and exit interviews.
• As a member of the Social Committee you will encourage and reinforce the development of a strong corporate culture.
• Coordinate and assist hiring managers for internal job postings and offers. External recruitment is handled by an in house recruiter.
• Responsible for reporting any people changes to the payroll department.
• Manage the onboarding and offboarding of employees
• Manage leave of absences and return to work programs
• Oversees the administration of Health Benefits Plan and the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP).
Qualifications:
• Requires minimum post-secondary education in Human Resources or Business Administration and hold a CHRP designation (or in progress) coupled with a minimum of 7+ years of human resources experience
• This role requires multi-tasking skills, and the ability to assert ideas and influence others as it pertains to HR issues and programs
• Demonstrated experience with leave of absence management and a return to work program
• Strong organization skills and active listening skills as well as the ability to identify areas of development and create an action plan and deliver results
• Proven track record in building solid relationships within the organization with creative problem solving and coaching skills
• Demonstrated credibility, confidence and a strong client focus and to be viewed as a true Partner to the business
• Working knowledge of Federal and Provincial Legislation as well as familiarity with Employment Standards, Human Rights Legislation and Ministry of Labour
• Must be a self-motivated, self starter, that brings a strong, positive energy to the organization, and who can make decisions and work with minimal supervision
