The Group is looking to add a dynamic, highly motivated professional to the team. The individual must enjoy working in a complex, fast paced environment and working both independently and as part of a team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, this permanent, full-time position offers the unique opportunity to develop knowledge in both public and private company corporate tax, indirect tax and tax incentives across a broad range of industries.
Responsibilities: - Review and/or preparation of Canadian corporate income tax, partnership, information and foreign reporting returns
- Preparation and/or review of consolidated income tax provision in accordance with IFRS
- Review and/or preparation of transfer pricing calculations
- Review and/or preparation of statutory financial statements
- Participate in tax planning initiatives and related filings
- Conduct tax research to remain current and to ensure that the organization is compliant
- Assist with external audit of tax provision and government audits
- Assist with applications and filings for government and other incentives
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal controls
- Assist with special projects, ad-hoc questions, reviewing sales tax returns, and other duties
What you bring: - Canadian CPA designation in good standing
- Completion of Level 1 of the In-depth Tax Program or Graduate degree in Canadian Taxation
- 5+ years of related experience with 3 + years of that experience preparing Canadian corporate tax returns; public practice tax experience at a mid-sized or international firm preferred
- Experience preparing and/or reviewing tax provisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and consistently meet deadlines with attention to detail
- Proficiency with tax preparation software, Microsoft Excel and Word and Adobe Acrobat
