Job Description
The ASK Friendship Society offers specialized programs for older adults with chronic health challenges. ASK’s mission is to enrich the lives of older adults and their caregivers by delivering high-quality, community-based programs and services.
Reporting to the Executive Director:
Program/Centre Management and Development :
- Develop, implement, and monitor systems and processes to support the daily operations of the Centre(s).
- Effectively manage and resolve client concerns and complaints in partnership with staff.
- Ensure the health and safety of clients and staff at the centre with a focus on risk management.
- Develops, pursues, implements, and schedules new programs and outreach opportunities to grow the operations of the ASK Society.
- Lead the development and implementation of the operational policies and procedures of the Society and the Centre Standards as needed in existing and new programs. Engages and partners with a wide range of stakeholders such as the community members, community organizations, and Vancouver Coastal Health to support new and current programming activities.
- Ensures program marketing and communications materials are up to date.
Leadership:
- Directly manage and support the program staff and LPN/Operations Supervisor
- Hires and oversees orientation of new staff members to the Society, keep employee records
- Is responsible for all aspects of program management in the absence of the Executive Director
Fiscal Management & Reporting :
- Participate in Centre(s) annual budget planning and forecasts.
- Monitors and reports on Centre(s) operational budget. Monthly report and Outcome measurements
- Responsible to meet Vancouver Coastal Health contract requirements and oversee reporting to Vancouver Coastal Health.
Fund Development:
- Identify funding opportunities that would enhance current programming and expand programming and services within the community.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director and Development Director, assist in applying for grants to support or enhance the operations of the Centre(s).
- ensure outcome measurements are satisfactory to funders.
Community and Public Relations :
- Working with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors ensures a positive community profile and image.
- Acts as a representative of the Society in the community by attending meetings, belonging to community groups or organizations, giving presentations or attending conferences or networking events.
- Engage in community consultation and community needs assessments to determine programs and services.
Relationship with the Board:
- At the request of the Executive Director, attends monthly Board meetings with the Executive Director for reporting on Operations.
- When requested by the Executive Director, attends Board meetings on their behalf.
- Provides information to appropriate ASK Board Committees and/or Board members on significant matters which affect the Society.
- Works with the Executive Director and ASK Board on Strategic, operational, annual, and long-range goal setting.
Experience and Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in a Health-Related Field or credentials in Not for Profit
- 2 years supervisory/manager experience preferably in a not-for-profit setting
- Demonstrated skill in leadership, motivating, supervising and developing teams
- Experience working with the older adult population and people living with dementia
- Change management skills
- Developing and implementing annual programming and operations plans
- Knowledge and experience in developing and managing budgets
- Administration and Financial management experience
- Knowledge and prior work experience in the community health sector and understanding of the issues facing seniors with the impacts of poverty, mental illness, and chronic health issues
- Administrative and organizational skills, including an understanding of Microsoft programming such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook

Schedule:
Hours of Work: 35 hrs/week. Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm (on-site) Occasional altered schedule.
Other: Valid First Aid Certificate, Clear Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, must have Covid- 19 vaccines
