The Verify team is looking for a Senior Manager, Operations (Special Investigations Unit, Property, Auto, Specialty and Bodily Injury) to lead a team of SIU leaders across multiple lines of business and locations (including; ON, QC, AB & BC) ! In this role, you will also be collaborating with the business to protect Aviva & consumers from Fraud & Financial Crime.

Work with the Head of Verify to deliver on the anti-Fraud / Financial crime strategic agenda in partnership with other members of the leadership team.
Develops strategies to enhance Aviva Canada’s capabilities to identify fraud, reporting to senior management on the performance and effectiveness of the function.
Engages and influences internal partners to support Aviva Canada’s response to fraud.
Develop annual planning, strategy and goals for the SIU teams, in collaboration with the leaders.
Supports and supervises the Triage leader in the assessment and in-take of cases, that require investigation in SIU and Verify.
Identifies and builds capability through implementation of systems and fraud tools.
Supports and collaborates with the leaders to develop effective training and coaching programs.
Leads the development of automation to develop rules and proactively identify new investigations.
Develops, implements, and owns SIU investigation strategy to ensure alignment with overall Aviva Canada Financial Crime risk assessment and threats / vulnerability assessment.
Provides oversight of leaders to deliver on execution of investigations in line with quality expectations and standard principles.
Ensures cases are handled in collaboration with accountable business area management
Supports technical decision making on investigations and ensures appropriate engagement of subject matter experts, where required.
Engages with Major Case, Intelligence & FC Name Screening teams when trends/ exposures are identified.
Reports to the Line of business Performance Management Meetings (PMM) on fraud performance and the Verify PMM.
Supports reporting to ACAN Exec, FC & Cyber Steering Committee, EC Risk Committee and ACAN Board Governance Committee.
Supports a technical assessment of the External Fraud risk and mitigating controls to help identify gaps.
CIP designation or working towards CIP
Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience
Preferred professional qualification in fraud investigation, criminology or financial crime.
Minimum 6-8 years’ experience in an investigative field of work or similar.
Strong operational leadership (6+ years) to ensure appropriate resourcing to deliver multiple investigations within agreed budgets and quality requirements
Strong financial competence to assess opportunities and quantify benefits of fraud and financial crimes prevention activities
Strong communication skills and partner engagement
Ability to guide the leaders and their respective teams to build capability, consistency and effective outcomes
Ability to navigate sensitive matters with internal and external partners and be a trusted advisor within the Aviva Canada community on matters relating to fraud and financial crime investigations
Strong understanding of claims and underwriting processes
Outstanding analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Strong customer service and verbal/written communication - ability to communicate respectfully and compassionately (including presentation skills)
Outspoken and comfortable with challenge and ambiguity
Investigative strategies and requirements/legislation
Ability to make confident and objective decisions in matters having high potential for legal precedent or legal dispute
