Roles and Responsibilities
- Analysis of existent turbomachinery assets for their transformation into synchronous condensers.
- Solid engineering expertise for creating technical conceptual and detailed designs that may include flywheels, clutches, shaft extensions, pony motors, turbomachinery adaptations (in generator and/or turbine) and other parts and sub-parts or systems of the complete equipment.
- In-depth understanding of pressurized and vacuum enclosures, with hydrogen or air, for rotating turbomachinery.
- Experience with design or selection and application of seals & sealing systems for static-to-rotating parts in pressurized and vacuum enclosures.
- Capable to run or lead/guide other engineers in analytical or finite elements calculations, covering static and dynamic analysis of steady structures and rotors.
- Take part or lead engineers in the analysis of auxiliary equipment typical of thermal powerplants (oil supply units, heat exchangers, water cooling systems, hydrogen supply skids etc.) for their reutilization, adaptation, or replacement, in projects of turbomachinery refurbishment and synchronous condensers implementation.
- The Sr Engineer interacts with the customer, including site visits to understand the equipment and all arrangements in plant, do inspections and assess conditions, with the purpose of developing the refurbishment solutions.
