Job description
About the Role
The most successful consumer technology companies are brilliant storytellers who put their products - as well as the benefits of those products - front and center in every communication. As a Communications Associate, you will support Uber’s delivery and B2B efforts across Brazil, based in Sao Paulo. This role reports to the Head of Comms for Brazil, and as a team, you will work to effectively convey our delivery and B2B narratives.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Establish Uber’s delivery and B2B narratives, showcasing our technology and enhancements to local media and third-party stakeholders.
- Develop a compelling and consistent narrative on Uber’s commitment to efficient and reliable delivery and B2B services.
- Respond to media requests about delivery and B2B.
- Work closely across Uber’s teams, including Groceries, Direct, Ads, Uber for Business, Marketing, Policy, and Legal, on gathering information for external communications.
- Lead monitoring, reporting, and coordination with PR firms.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in topics related to external communications.
- Relevant experience will include some combination of journalism, agency experience, in-house communications, and experience with B2C and B2B industries.
- Active media relations.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Professional proficiency in English and Portuguese.
- Proficiency in social media.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Effective team player.
- Flexible work schedule, including but not limited to weekend work hours and the option to work from a home office.
What we are looking for
- A self-starter: Uber is a company of entrepreneurs, and we want to work with people who enjoy building things from the bottom up, too. Stuff changes fast in our world, so you'll need to be highly adaptable as well as calm under pressure;
- A great advocate: We're looking for people who can distill complex ideas into simple but intellectually credible arguments. You'll need to write well and have the creative ability to tell stories about our product, people, and how we're helping to improve safety for riders, drivers, delivery people, and cities.
- A strong campaigner: Smartphone apps are disruptive, and the interests being disrupted are deeply entrenched. We succeed by putting together effective campaigns with third parties on behalf of the people who use the app. That means you'll have a bias for action in everything you do and a willingness to engage in safety debates that can often become heated.
- A team player: Success at Uber depends on the ability to organize different teams (internally and externally) around shared goals. That's why we're looking for well-organized people who enjoy working with others to get stuff done and who can deal with the ambiguity that sometimes comes from working cross-functionally.
We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let’s move the world forward, together.
Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber’s cultural identity. Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office. For certain roles, such as those based at green-light hubs, employees are expected to be in-office for 100% of their time. Please speak with your recruiter to better understand in-office expectations for this role.
