We are seeking an experienced and motivated SRE Engineering Manager to join our team. As the SRE Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the observability practices and tools within our organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability and performance of our systems, leveraging your expertise in tools such as New Relic, Cloud Azure, Prometheus, and Grafana. Additionally, you will demonstrate strong leadership skills and manage a team of talented individuals.
What you'll do:
- Lead and manage a team of SREs focused on observability, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance observability practices, ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems.
- Utilize your expertise using tools such as New Relic, Prometheus, OTEL, and Grafana to design and implement effective monitoring and alerting solutions.
- Collaborate with other teams, including development, operations, and infrastructure, to identify and address performance bottlenecks and optimize system performance.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in observability, and evaluate their potential benefits for our organization.
- Establish and maintain best practices and standards for observability, ensuring consistency across teams.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance in incident response and post-mortem analysis, driving continuous improvement.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation within the SRE and broader engineering teams.
- Collaborate with the teams to define and meet service level objectives (SLOs) and error budgets.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years of experience in SRE or DevOps.
- Proven experience in SRE or a related role, with a focus on observability.
- Strong proficiency in tools such as New Relic, Cloud Azure, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Deep understanding of monitoring, metrics, logs, and tracing concepts.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing and mentoring a team.
- Solid understanding of cloud platforms, particularly Cloud Azure.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
