What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or natural or food sciences/pharmaceutical with emphasis in Analytical chemistry.
- Solid experience with chemical and physical analyses in food or related industries (advanced education may partially substitute for required experience).
- Knowledge and accuracy in running and maintaining necessary analytical instrumentation is required
- Experience working in a production lab environment.
- Working knowledge of ISO 17025 standard
- Knowledge of food safety and nutrition an asset
- Advanced English

- Masters the key scientific principles associated with analytical analysis.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of laboratory safety, chemicals management and chemical hygiene plans.
- Technical knowledge and expertise in the use and application of specialized analytical instrumentation to support food safety and Nutritional testing (pre-mix, pre-blends, mixer studies, raw ingredients, developmental products, and finished product analysis). Specific instrumentation includes, but not limited to, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, LC-MS/MS, etc.
- Skilled in sample preparation, clean-up, separation, and assay.
- Knowledge of statistical methods including sampling plans, statistics and data interpretation including confidence intervals.
- Excellent practical laboratory skills. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex analytical instrumentation.
- Experience and skill in the use of the following: Computers, Spreadsheet software (MS Excel preferred), and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Excellent organizational skills to adjust to fluctuating workloads, urgent customer requests while maintaining attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to follow laboratory safety procedures, to maintain accurate records, and to clearly and accurately read, write and interpret data.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Flexibility to changing priorities and timelines.
What will be your key responsibilities?
To perform Chemical assays in the Regional Chemistry Laboratory in support of Mars Petcare, MWC, and Food.
The associate will be responsible for internal lab operational programs including lab safety, chemical hygiene, and quality programs. The role also requires compliance with Mars Global Laboratory Quality Standards and ISO 17025.
Perform a variety of technical and administrative activities in support of the day to day running of the laboratory sample preparation room assuring product quality at the MGS Regional Laboratory.
This position is responsible to ensure timely results from the preparation of samples to the validation of analytical results.
