About the job Summary We are looking for Contributing Researchers to contribute to the thematic issue titled,

Interaction between Drugs and Endocrine Diseases

, to be published in

Current Drug Metabolism

. If you have published cited research in pharmacology and toxicology, this opportunity might be the perfect fit for you.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct in-depth research or review of previous studies, contributing valuable insight to the thematic issue. Synthesize relevant literature to identify research gaps and build upon current knowledge. Generate innovative ideas and theories to advance understanding within the chosen thematic area. Ensure adherence to ethical standards in research and address conflicts of interest.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Awareness of ethical research practices.

About this Thematic Issue: Interaction between Drugs and Endocrine Diseases The introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy accelerated studies and our understanding of the interaction between pharmacological therapies and endocrine diseases. Drugs can precipitate endocrine via different mechanisms, including direct alteration of hormone production and secretion, dysregulation of hormonal axis, effects on hormonal transport, receptor-binding, and cellular signaling. Common drug-induced endocrine disorders include disorders of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, electrolyte handling disturbances and drug-induced thyroid, adrenal, and gonadal disorders. Furthermore, endocrine disorders have been shown to alter drug pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic responses, thus affecting the managing of other diseases. Studies have indicated altered drug binding, distribution, and elimination in endocrine and metabolic disorders. This thematic issue therefore provides an opportunity to further accelerate our understanding on the interaction between drugs and endocrine disorders. The prevalence of endocrine disorders is increasing at an alarming rate, it is, therefore, important we expedite our understanding, not only to prevent drug-induced endocrine disorders but also to acknowledge the endocrine disorder’s role in the alteration of drugs pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic response, as it may affect the management of diseases from a clinical perspective. This thematic issue intends to accept and publish high-quality commentary, review, and original research papers aiming to provide advancement in our understanding on the interaction between drugs and endocrine/metabolic diseases.

About Current Drug Metabolism: The Journal aims to cover all the latest and outstanding developments in drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and drug disposition. The journal serves as an international forum for the publication of full-length/mini-review articles and guest edited issues in drug metabolism. Current Drug Metabolism is an essential journal for academic, clinical, government and pharmaceutical scientists who wish to be kept informed and up-to-date with the most important developments. The journal covers the following general topic areas: pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and most importantly drug metabolism. The journal has an Impact Factor of 2.3.
